Michu Mezcal was born from a bond forged in the hallways and classrooms of college, where Nelson and Drew first crossed paths. United by a shared enthusiasm for marketing and a deep-rooted passion for the spirits industry, our friendship grew into a vision that would eventually encapsulate the essence of tradition, friendship, and the enigmatic flavors of Oaxaca.
Years after we tossed our graduation caps, our paths reconverged, inspired by a mutual desire to dive deep into the heritage of artisanal mezcal. Drawing on Nelson’s marketing brilliance and Drew’s extensive experience in spirit production, Michu Mezcal was created as a tribute to the rich, mystical taste that mezcal is known for, and as a celebration of the enduring friendship that brought this dream to life.
Our Roots
Michu (the Indigenous native language term used when calling a 'kitty cat') Mezcal ensures that local Indigenous communities, where our mezcal is grown, cultivated, and distilled, are taken care of by supporting sustainable production methods by investing in the quality and processes of each Palenque (distilleries) we work with. Knowing that mezcal is a finite product, we aim to ensure that as we harvest, we are also replanting the land, securing the future of our production volume while always maintaining the traditional 100% artisanal process based on eco-friendly practices.
