Michu (the Indigenous native language term used when calling a ‘kitty cat’) Mezcal ensures that local Indigenous communities, where our mezcal is grown, cultivated, and distilled, are taken care of by supporting sustainable production methods by investing in the quality and processes of each Palenque (distilleries) we work with. Knowing that mezcal is a finite product, we aim to ensure that as we harvest, we are also replanting the land, securing the future of our production volume while always maintaining the traditional 100% artisanal process based on eco-friendly practices.
Since the dawn of time, Mezcal has been an essential part of Mexican culture and tradition. In ancient lore, Mezcal is believed to have been created by the GODS of the indigenous people of Mexico, and this distilled juice of the agave plant was used in their religious ceremonies. In pre-Colombian times, mezcal was used not only as a ceremonial drink but also for medicinal purposes. Over time, mezcal became an integral part of Mexican culture, with each region’s unique production methods, tastes, and characteristics. Today, mezcal is enjoyed locally and internationally and regarded as one of the original symbols of Mexican identity and tradition.
Michu mezcal is the cleanest spirit on the market due to its traditional production process since containing only 100% agave with no additives or preservatives by law. Michu has tasting notes of citrus, green tones, earthiness and smoke… an exotic mixture that goes easy on the palate and is smooth throughout. Sip Michu by itself with “sal de gusano” and an orange slice, or mix it in your favorite drink. Before you know it, you will be saying, “Michu, Michu, Michu,” the same way the indigenous population in the region calls for their kitties.
